RRS has called its coyote engine swap system the Thunderbolt after trhe legendary car.

Coyote engine into Mustang, Maverick, Falcon, Fairlane, Comet & more

RRS is building an XY falcon a 1970 Maverick and a 1970 Mustang with Coyote motors

"RRS has completed three coyote engine swaps, a crate racing motor into an XY Falcon, a crate coyote into a 1970 Mustang, and salvaged coyote from a 2017 Mustang into a 1970 Maverick."

The Coyote Swap is becoming the number one engine swap in Australia, Canada, and the USA. RRS has built these cars to develop RRS products and form partnerships with other suppliers to overcome the technical issues.

Through these projects, RRS has developed the solutions to:

  • Engine and gearbox mounting
  •  Fuel supply
  • Cooling plumbing
  • Engine management and wiring
  • Extractors and exhaust

If you are planning to put a Coyote into your Falcon, Mustang, Fairlane, or Maverick, RRS has the answers.

In this video Matthew from RRS explains how to get a Coyote motor from a late model Mustang.

Coyote crate motor from Ford Racing with 2.8L VMP suoerchager.

Since 2000 RRS has been developing new ways to apply the latest technology to classic Ford. The Coyote engine swap, is RRS's latest challenge, take the new coyote 5L engine, build performance headers and then fit it into the smallest engine bay going around (A 1970 Ford Maverick).

Coyote is a wide motor, bolt-on a good set of extractors, and you need room, where traditional upper control arms are or where A "Mustang 2" upper control arms would go, the best answer RRS coil-overs and notch the towers.

Upgrade your suspension while you make room where you need it.

RRS Coyote motor engine swap products

To convert your classic Ford to coyote takes room, on average 10" (25cm) more engine bay than you have now. So you going to have create more room you can achieve this two ways replace your factory front suspension with coil overs and notch the towers, without any detrimental chassis effects. It has been proven by all the performance manufacturers that strut front ends require less sheet metal, because of a lower force transference (road impacts) to maintain a reliable chassis structure, with less flex.

Notching the towers is essential in the smaller (XK-XP, Falcon sprint, Maverick, and early Mustang) engine bays. Pictured above is an XY Falcon with RRS headers, the notched towers improve airflow and serviceability.

RRS has developed two shock tower notching kits, Thunderbolt for Falcon and Fairlane, and Cammer for Mustang and Maverick.

To widen the engine bay you will need to eliminate the upper control arms, this easily achieved with RRS height adjustable coil overs.

Grabber Engine Mounts

The Grabber engine mounts are torque limiting for greater performance. RRS has developed the Grabber engine mounts to fit Coyote motors to Falcons, Fairlanes, Fairmonts, LTD's, Mustangs, Mavericks, Torinos, US Falcons and Fairlanes and the Mercury Cougar, Comets, Cyclones, and Montegos

New electric power steering pump kit for Coyote engine swap

The Coyote motor either as a new crate or salvaged does not have a power steer pump, RRS have an E-pump kit. The E-pump can be mounted either flat or upright making finding room so much easier.

If installing a salvaged Coyote, you may find it helpful to use the trans tunnel if not the whole floor. If you are using a crate motor, floors are available from Ford parts.

bolt in 3 link rear suspension kit in 1970 Mustang with super charged Coyote motor

With Coyote upfront producing high power, you need to get the power down. The RRS Trans-Am 3 link is a great way to modernize your rear suspension. Reducing torque steer, reducing roll understeer, adjustable height, adjustable launch balance, and adjustable dampening.

The Trans-Am 3-link is made exclusively for the indestructible Ford 9" housing. RRS can supply a weld on kit, or a bolt-on kit for your 9" housing or complete housing with axles, tru-track centre and brakes preassembled ready to bolt in.

The RRS rear brake kits allow the use of your existing park brake lever while upgrading your brakes to balance the new brakes on the front. The rear brake kits are custom made to suit the four Ford axle patterns and be inbalance with front brake choice.
